How to set positive intentions for the new year

In this blog, I'm excited to share my top five tips on weaving wellbeing and self-discovery into the fabric of everyday life.

As we embrace the dawn of a new year, it's the perfect moment to infuse our lives with positive intentions and purposeful actions. In this blog, I'm excited to share my top five tips on weaving wellbeing and self-discovery into the fabric of everyday life. Each intention is a deliberate step toward a more enriching and balanced lifestyle, touching on everything from creating a mindful sanctuary in your living space to fostering creativity in a dedicated corner. I will explore the art of reflection through journaling and explain how you can elevate our kitchen rituals with hearty, organic cooking too.

1. Create a Mindful Living Space

It’s time to transform your living space into a sanctuary of mindfulness and tranquillity. Embrace the principles of conscious interior design by incorporating sustainable and ethically-sourced home decor from brands such as Broste Copenhagen, House Doctor and IB Laursen

Eco-friendly rugs, cosy throw blankets, and natural-fibre cushions not only add a touch of warmth but also align with a commitment to create a more mindful lifestyle. For more information on transforming your living space, check out my blog here - 9 simple ways to update your living space.

2. Journaling for Reflection and Growth

If you don’t already, it’s time to consider embracing the powerful practice of journaling. It’s a brilliant way to foster personal reflection and growth. I would recommend setting the intention to weave moments of mindfulness into your daily routine by capturing thoughts, aspirations, and gratitude. Find a quiet corner in your home, with lots of natural light, and create a dedicated space for this practice.

Our Notem collection is my favourite for journaling; perfect for daily notes and scribbles, doodles and drawings.

Not so good at writing your thoughts and feelings down? We have an incredible collection from The School of Life, which can help you reflect and grow in a more interactive approach.

3. Revitalise Your Kitchen Rituals

Infuse some heartiness into your daily cooking routine with our beautiful range of ceramics and stoneware and utensils and chopping boards. Make your kitchen a place where cooking feels like a celebration. Where every meal is a chance to fill your belly with goodness and connect with others. Whether you're whipping up comforting bone broths or relishing in organic eats, these dishes just make the whole dining experience a bit more special. So, let your kitchen be the cosy hub where meals are about more than just eating – it's about sharing warmth, joy, and good food; whether that’s on your own or with your family.

4. Cultivate a Creative Corner

Fuel your creative side by simply carving out a dedicated space for artistic expression in your home. Create a spot where your creative spirit can thrive. A corner with Folk Interiors' comfy furniture, adjustable lighting, and inspiring decor that just calls out to your muse. It's not about complicated setups; it's about turning a corner into your personal sanctuary, where the magic of creativity happens.

Whether you're into writing, painting, or crafting, just surround yourself with tools and an atmosphere that sparks innovation. I love our Lola Art Boxes, suitable for children up to 16 years old. They are a great way to get creative with your kids. If you're looking to learn something new, you have to try our Artful: Art School in a Box.

5. Host Heartwarming Gatherings

Forge stronger bonds with friends and family by making your place the go-to spot for heartwarming get-togethers. We're talking about creating a space where people feel at ease.

If you follow my simple steps above, you're setting the stage for a year filled with shared laughter, delicious meals, and the joy of building lasting connections.

And that's it - my top tips for how you can hit the ground running and set positive intentions in 2024. I hope that you feel inspired and I can’t wait to see how you implement these ideas - don’t forget to tag me on Instagram (@folkinteriors).

Enjoy folks.
