About Shepherd of Sweden
Shepherd of Sweden was founded in 1982. The Scandinavian brand has forty years of experience in crafting high-quality sheepskin and wool products, from rugs through to slippers.
The brand sells its comfortable and warm products all across the world, from the US and Asia, as well as the UK.
Shepherd of Sweden sources its sheepskins worldwide, including Australia, New Zealand, England and the Scandinavian countries. The sheepskins are then brought to the Shepherd of Sweden factory in Sweden and lovingly handcrafted into the products we know and love. A lot of care and attention goes into crafting these products; for example, a slipper consists of about 25 to 30 different parts that must be sewn together!
Shepherd of Sweden is dedicated to quality and ethical processes. Only the very best sheepskins are selected, and high demands are placed on suppliers to ensure that they have exceptional animal welfare standards. All suppliers must follow the ‘Shepherd code of animal treatment’, ensuring that all sheep have access to a natural environment, good health and access to food and water.
Why Sheepskin is an excellent choice for any home
If you have ever wondered if a sheepskin throw, rug or cushion is a good option for your home… The answer is yes! Here are some of the reasons why a sheepskin rug is always a practical choice.
Sheepskin will bring warmth and luxury to any room in your home, from the living room to the bedroom. There’s nothing nicer than taking your shoes and shoes off and walking barefoot on a cosy sheepskin rug, feeling the soft fibres between your toes!
As well as being warm, sheepskin is breathable too. Air can easily circulate through the fibres, which means that it can actually help cool you down in the hot summer months. There’s no need to pack your sheepskins away when the temperature starts to rise!
Sheepskin is exceptionally soft and silky. It’s not rough or harsh and will give any home an extra element of luxury. Imagine relaxing in the living room. You’ve lit the candles, you’ve got a warm drink, and you sink into a sofa covered in a plush sheepskin throw. Heaven!
As Sheepskin is 100% natural and contains conditioning lanolin, it’s good for the skin. It’s hypoallergenic and anti-bacterial, meaning that it’s great if you or anyone in your family suffer from allergies or skin conditions like eczema.
The final thing to mention is that sheepskin is hard-wearing and will last a lifetime. Treat it well, and a sheepskin rug or cushion from Shepherd of Sweden is an investment that you can hand down through the generations!
Treat your feet to a pair of Shepherd of Sweden slippers
As well as rugs and cushions, Shepherd of Sweden is well-known for its range of comfortable slippers. Our customers continually tell us that they live for, and live in, this particular brand of slippers!
Sheepskin is a fantastic choice for slippers, and has been used across the world for centuries. For example, a mummy from 500 BC was discovered to be wearing the remnants of a pair of sheepskin boots!
Not only is sheepskin soft and warm on your feet, but it can regulate the temperature of your feet too, warming them in cool weather and cooling them in warm weather. It’s also antibacterial as well, perfect for keeping your feet (and slippers) fresh and sweet-smelling, wear after wear!
All Shepherd of Sweden slippers are made of 100% sheepskin, with an EVA-sole to prevent slipping on hard surfaces. As the sheepskin is very plush, your slippers may feel a little tight the first time you wear them, but they will loosen up more as the sheepskin flattens out.
If looked after correctly, a pair of sheepskin slippers will last you a very long time. Avoid washing the slippers in the washing machine where possible - we recommend spot cleaning or handwashing with either a mild liquid detergent or one made for wool. Let them dry naturally at room temperature, placing some paper inside them, so they hold their shape. Use a soft suede brush on them after they have dried out to make them soft and fluffy.

Looking for a practical gift for your favourite cyclist?
Why not treat them to a sheepskin bike seat cover? This unusual and quirky gift stretches over their bike seat, helping to keep them warm on chilly bike rides!
As sheepskin is naturally water-resistant, this bike seat cover can be left in the rain, and will wick away any perspiration too.
It’s the perfect treat for casual cyclists, as well as professional bikers looking for comfort on longer bike rides, no matter what the weather is like.

Washing and care advice for sheepskin and wool slippers
You should avoid washing this product for as long as possible. If the cover has to be washed, we recommend that that they are hand-washed or that they are washed in the washing machine at 30 degrees on the wool program. Only use a mild liquid detergent and preferably a detergent especially made for wool. Drying the cover should be done as naturally as possibly, for example by letting them dry in a normal room temperature. Avoid drying in direct sunlight or near to a radiator.
